Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
bankruptcy and civil suit
I am a debtor in a civil suit. I am also in the process of filing for bankruptcy. The bankruptcy will be filed within 2 days after the start of the civil trial. Will this put a stay on the civil trial? WIll I still be required to attend?

Why not have your attorney file a skeletal BK before the trial date? Then you would have 15 days to file the remaining documents with the BK court. That would avoid tremendous expense and aggravation for both parties.
