Re: Bankruptcy

Believe it or not, your question is not uncommon. The debts are yours (and your ex's) from before. They will be discharged either before or during your new marriage -- assuming all goes according to the normal schedule.

The bankruptcy will not show up on your new wife's credit report. The only negative will be your own difficulty in obtaining new credit for a while until it's re-established. You probably won't be able to buy a house right away (most people can't, anyway, with the mortgage crisis), and might initially have trouble obtaining a new credit card. That should be about it.

After the bankruptcy is over, you will want to start establishing credit in a methodical way. Make sure to take the financial management course that's required and submit your certificate to the court. Good luck to you.
