Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

bankruptcy effects on employment

my husband and i are $78,000 in the red with credit card debt due to medical disability and loss of job. we are thinking of bankruptcy, but are afraid to file because we might have trouble finding a job afterwards. what are the laws regarding employment for bankrupt individuals? he wants to apply for a city job in los angeles as a peace office (special officer) and i would like to find another help desk/computer support position myself. many companies now pull a credit report as part of job application, even though the job is not related to money handling at all, could you please enlighten us? thank you.

Thanks for your posting. Bankruptcy laws prohibit discrimination based upon a debtor filing for bankruptcy protection.
