Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
bankruptcy and immigration
I am curious as to what it means for an immigrant who files for bankruptcy. This is an immigrant who is here under assylum.

Re: bankruptcy and immigration
I am not sure I understand your question. There are no restrictions or special problems in bankruptcy for an immigrant, whether he is here legally or not. If you are trying to ask whether there are ramifications for the immigrant as far as the INS is concerned, then that is a question that should be directed to an immigration attorney.
Re: bankruptcy and immigration
As I am not an immigration lawyer, rather a bankruptcy lawyer, I can only say in my 11 years as a bankruptcy attorney, we have never seen an instance where a bankruptcy filing created a problem with ones immigration goals.
Best of Luck.
