Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Bankruptcy did the law extend the time of chapter 7

I filed for bankruptch in Jan 1994. I was told by my attorney it would be for 7 years. This was in California. Now I see on some of my credit reports that it says it will stay for 10 years. Has the law changed since I was discharge? How can it go from 7 to 10 years.
