I am in the process of filing bankrutcy in california and plan on relocating to texas in a few months. Does it affect anything?

You will have to appear for the creditors' meeting in about 1 month after you file for BK. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any other complications unless there are unusual elements to your BK.
