Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Bankruptcy on record time-line

I filed a chapter 7 in 8/88 with my ex-husband. We were told it would be on our record for 7 years, were we told wrong? I'm divorced now and trying to buy a home and the bankruptcy is still on my credit report. Did I miss something?

Thanks for your help.

Bankruptcy Record

Apparently so. The language used to convey this information should be "up to ten years", as this is the length of time currently allowed by law.
