Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Brankruptcy of x, will this hurt me
My wife and I split up 6 years ago, we are in the process of getting the divorce complete. She has gotten herself in debt over the last few years, since we split, she is talking about filing chapter 7. I am concerned about this coming back at me--if she holds off until after the divorce is final does that get me away for her bankruptcy? I do not think there are any accounts that had my name on them. Thank you in advace for your answer.

If the debts were incurred while you were maintaining separate residences, then you will not be responsible for them. Nevertheless, you might check your credit reports from time-to-time to clear out matters that are not yours.
