Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Bunkruptcy filing
I was laid off from work and have no income. I am considering bankruptcy. I would like to keep my house which the creditors are now theatening to foreclose. What can I do to stop the foreclosure. I stil want to be able to pay on smaller debts.

You're a prime candidate for a Bankruptcy Chapter 13. As soon as you get some regular income coming in. So your real problem is that you need a job or some regular source of income.

To expand on Victor's reply, if you cant get a job to qualify for a 13 then you may have to file a 7 to stop forclosure and sell the house to get your equity out.
