Can i file chapter seven and still keep my home?

It is possible to keep a home in a Chapter 7, but in any given case it depends on many factors, such as the value of the home, whether you are single or married, etc.

I'll chime in with the same answer as the previous attorneys: the law provides for exemptions for some assets, and the house in California can have an exemption for the equity in the home anywhere from $50,000 to $125,000, depending on your marital status, age, income and/or possible disability.

As the others have undoubtedly mentioned, it depends on the value of your home, the liens and encumbrances against it, the value of your other assets and other factors.
