Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
To whom it may concern
I have somebody who has the same legal name as I do. That person has or will file for bankruptcy. This person is still working. They want me to open a bank account under my name, so checks can be deposited into my new account, so the creditors wont touch his money. What should I do because they are family? My question is if I decide to do so can there be any legal ramifications to me?

So you're asking if there are any legal ramifications to being part of a conspiracy to commit federal bankruptcy fraud? Yes, there are ramifications. These cases are prosecuted by the FBI. The penalties are jail time and a substantial non-dischargeable fine.
Accounts receivable are property of the bankruptcy estate. Don't do it. Your relative should get a good lawyer to help him/her exempt whatever can be exempted.
