Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Credit report after bankruptcy
My question is: After the discharge of a bankruptcy, can your creditors still update your credit report with late payments and charge offs? After the bankruptcy is discharge, the debt is discharged, the account is closed so therefore there should not be any more rports on that account. right?

Re: Credit report after bankruptcy
Wrong; the creditor can continue to reflect the non-payment and the fact that it was charged off for seven years and a bankruptcy itself will be on your credit for ten years. A bankruptcy only precludes the creditor from pursuing you for PAYMENT of the debt, but they can still REPORT the fact that you had a debt and the fact that it was unpaid
