Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Discrimination in hiring because of bankruptcy
Section 525 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code seems to indicate that a potential employer may not discriminate against an applicant because of a bankruptcy. Is this assumption correct or does it get more complicated?
Thank you for your time.

Re: Discrimination in hiring because of bankruptcy
Well, the statute says what it says and it is pretty clear. I guess the "catch" is that an employer can always find some other reason for not hiring someone, other than bankruptcy. Of course, if you can prove that the reason was the filing of a bankruptcy, you could sue the employer for a lot of money. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
