Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Effects of filing bankruptcy on spouse social security and IRS records

Hello: I am going to file bankruptcy and I realized that last year in 1999 I have filed a joint tax return with my spouse. She has no part on my debts, infact all the debts were incured prior to us getting married. Now my question is , if I file for bankruptcy, will her social security records be effected? We filed as joint married in 1999. She does not work.

Thank you

Each credit reporting bureau picks up information from a different sources. If you have NO joint accounts together which will be discharged, then it may not affect her credit. However, it is very possible (and even likely) that one or more of the credit reporting bureaus will note the bankruptcy by the spouse.
