Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Eliminating tax liens
After coming off disability (SSI), I want to get a job but I have some old tax liens on my record from failing to file and claim my alimony income. Now that I will be reporting income through my employer, I'm sure they will garnish my wages. Can I file bankrupcy and include these old (about 7 to 10 years prior) tax debts? The original debt is high but the interest and penalties make it impossible for me to pay.

Re: Eliminating tax liens
If you have not filed your returns for those years then your only option is to file a Chapter 13 case BEFORE October 17 and you may be able to get rid of them for less than 100% repayment.
