Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

A former employer of mine owes me my last commission check of $2000.00 and meanwhile has filed Chapter 11. By law, do they have to pay me still? Or is their bankruptcy wiping all their debts away?

I really need the money and do not want them to get away with not paying me.

You need to file a claim form with the bankruptcy court within the legal time limit. You might also visit the State Labor Commissioner, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement to see if there's anything they can do for you.
