Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
exemption system
I am helping my grandmother file chp7 bk. She has less than 15k debt to discharge and is not a homeowner. Her income consist of social security, personal pension and pension from ex-husband totalling approx $1200/mo. Personal property is basic: clothing, household items, 1990 chevy corsica and a life ins policy surrender of less than $500. Which system is best for her situation? Both pensions are ERISA qual. Thank you for your help.

Re: exemption system
If she does not own any real property, the exemptions under C.C.P. 703.140(b) would probably be best.
