what happens if I file bankrupcy and my mom was joint on my car that was repossessed?

If she was a co-signor or joint on the account and she has never filed for bankruptcy relief, chances are that the lender would go after her for the deficiency.

A common misconception is that bankruptcy eliminates debts. Actually, what it eliminates is the filing debtor's responsibility to pay those debts. If someone else is also responsible to pay a debt, he/she will continue to be responsible.
