Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

If I file for bankruptcy can the credit card companies take my stock money away from me that I have been purchasing over the past several years?

You can exempt the value of the stocks up to the amount permitted by the exemption. Beyond that, you might have to surrender it to the trustee for the trustee's commission and the rest to creditors.
