Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Can you file BK on Federal Taxes? I received a wage garnishment for taxes from 2003 and 2004.....I cannot afford to pay the amount they are asking. Can I file BK and get rid of the debt?

The issue of dischargeability of taxes is a tricky one. If you timely filed your return and if you have not been reassessed in the recent past, and the taxes owed are more than 3 years old, more than likely you should be able to discharge the taxes in bankruptcy. It's a minefield, though, so you might want to consult with an attorney knowledgeable about those issues.
