Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
I filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy got all the paper work signed my lawyer said he was going to do filing never did now he has sold his firm, is there any way to get my money back?

You should contact the attorney who bought the practice. Perhaps there is money being held in trust. You can also contact the State Bar and perhaps they can assist you in getting your money returned.
Another question - Is the firm that bought his firm taking over his files, as in doing your bankruptcy? Do you have the contents of your file? In other words, did he finish preparing your petition? Do you have a copy yourself? Do you have the materials you submitted to him? I ask because aside from wanting and deserving your money back, you still have the issue of needing to file your bankruptcy. Regardless of getting the $$ back from there, your case still needs to be filed. If I can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.
