Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

I filed a chapter 7 bk in June 09 and have had some delays gathering the paperwork the trustee has asked for. Since my initial filing I have had additional expenses (utilities, etc) that I would like to include in this bk. My house is in forclosure and I am unable to get homeowners insurance, so the mortgage has added homeowners insurance after i filed bk and sent me the bill. Can I file a update and include these new expenses? I don't go back to the trustee until the end of this month.

First, keep the trustee updated on your attempt to gather paperwork -- a short e-mail would probably suffice. Include your case number.

Second, debts incurred after the petition is filed cannot be included in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
