Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

filing bankruptcy help and waiver

I have incrued bills over the past years for medical and tickes that I was not able to pay due to illness and surgery. The tickets that are in collection have all been released from the court I have checked. I need to file bankruptcy and I need help in my local area. It seems I have not been able to find work because I have these thing on my credit history and it seems to be disqualifying me from renting as well. Thanks Amanda

It is hard to tell from the facts that you posted if you qualify for bankruptcy. If you don't receive a response to your post from an attorney near you area, I would contact the lawyer referral service for the Tulare County Bar Association. You can probably get a 30-minute consultation with a local bankruptcy attorney at no cost to you.

Medical bills would be dischargeable in a Chapter 7 BK. Traffic or parking tickets are not. I second my colleague's suggestion to contact the local bar association, or the one in Kern County. Not many folks from the big cities want to travel that far. You might help out whatever attorney you select by getting together your pay stubs, utility bills from the past year, and obtain your free credit report from Experian (Experian.com). Good luck to you.
