Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

how to find copy of bankruptcy

I, and my wife at-the-time, filed bankruptcy at the recommendation of our CPA. This was about 7 years ago. About 3 years ago, I came home from work and found my apartment completely cleaned out, bare to walls & floor. Now, I want to buy a house and my credit report is terrible, plus, the lender wants me to show that items on report were discharged in bankruptcy but, I don't have any papers. How do I go about getting a copy of my bankruptcy case? Thanks.

Re: how to find copy of bankruptcy

You would go to the BK clerk's office in LA and fill out a request slip. More than likely, your files are in archives in Laguna Niguel and will need to be dusted off and ordered, unless they've been imaged or microfilmed. If you want to e-mail me your case number and/or name, I'll see if it's available online. Thanks.
