lein

can a creditor put a lein on your home? If so will filing a chapter 7 lift that lein?

Timing can be critical to the success of an application to remove the lien as well if you are in an area where the real estate market is appreciating. I recently counseled a fellow who did not move to avoid the lien right away and due to appreciating markets got stuck with a $7000 lien that probably could have been removed earlier.

Yes, any judgment creditor can put a lien on your home. It may be removeable depending on the value of the home and amount of senior liens and encumbrances.
