Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Notice of Possible Dividend

My husband and I filed for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Northern California. We own a home. I received a letter from the court last week that said that if we received a tax refund for the 2000 year, we have to give this refund to the court. I also received a letter today that is ''Notice of Possible Dividend''. It stats that Notice is given that the notice of meting of creditors advised you that there were no assets in this case. It now appears that a payment of a dividend may be possible''. Is this document referring to my possible tax refund, or does the trustee think he can sell my house?? I filed without an attorney and I'm getting really worried. How can I find out if the trustee is going to try and force me to sell my house? Is it possible to convert to a chapter 13 at this time or is it too late? Please help!

Re: Notice of Possible Dividend

It's probably referring to the tax refund, but of course a lot depends on what the values of your assets were and what statutory exemptions you took. Have you tried calling the Trustee to find out what he's doing? That would make the most sense to me. You can always convert to Ch. 13 assuming you are otherwise eligible (assuming you have sufficient disposable income to propose a feasible plan of repayment, etc.).
