Certain types of taxes can be discharged in bankruptcy, but it depends on the type of tax an how old the debt is. You should contact a local bankruptcy attorney to review the account history to see of the taxes are dischargeable.

Generally, income taxes are dischargeable if it has been 3 yrs since the return was filed ... otherwise, they are not dischargeable.
