Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Owed Taxes

If I file for bankruptcy, am I still liable for owed taxes, or does the bankruptcy wipe the amout owed out?

Thank you.

Generally, taxes are not dischargable debts in bankruptcy. However, you may be in a position to negotiate your taxes down.

That depends on for what years the taxes are owed, when you filed your returns, and other factors. Please see http://www.bklaw.com/taxes.html for more information on this.
