The filing of bankruptcy can have an effect on your business. It will depend on what type of bankruptcy your partner is filing, whether the business has any assets and whether business has any value should it be sold.
There are a few ways you could be affected if your partner files for bankruptcy: (a) The bankruptcy trustee might want the business to be sold or shut down. (b) If you are jointly liable on any of the business debts, the creditors could still come after you for payment of the debt. (c) if you have received large payments from the business, the trustee might ask you for some of that money back.
