Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Property Managing

I am Managing a Victorian Home

subleted into 5 units in California. The owner of the property

is filing for Bankruptcy in his state of Georgia, listing the property as his main and only assets. I am concerned, because he recently has been sending me emails stating that I have not made the properties income deposits (rents for the 5 units) and also has sent out an email to all the tenents other than me to not give the money to me, due to missing money. Am I being set up? I believe he is stating that the property is bringing in an income of $6000 dollars which is far from true.

He also has worked out so many ''free'' deals with each of the tenants including myself, he is unable to keep it all straight. I manage this place 24 hrs a day plus do my 40 hrs at work. I pay all the utilities and repairs and deduct off my rent. I receive no discount for managing, other than deducting repairs and maintenance off my $1000 a month rent. I am not sure if the area of Law that I have listed is the correct category.

Re: Property Managing

You might have been defamed by the owner to other tenants who accused you of theft. It looks like you won't have that job for too much longer. If you're interested in pursuing the defamation claim, talk to an attorney in your area.
