Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Received ReAffirmation letter from attorney after 341 meeting!

I had my 341 meeting October 10th, no creditors showed up. Now all of a sudden I get a ReAffirmation letter from a law office representing Dell Computer.

They said if I don't reaffirm I have to surrender the product. This computer was given to a relative a year and a half ago and they gave it away for a better model. In fact the computer was 3 years old.

Is this legal for them to keep harrassing me after I filed BK? Will they put a lien on property I don't have. Help!

Financing a computer makes the computer company a secured creditor. They cannot come after you for the money if the debt was properly scheduled. However, they may take back the security if they really want it. It would not hurt to tell them that you no longer have it, that you gave it away, so you can't return it.
