Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
I recently received: Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, Meeting of Creditors and Deadlines.
The debtor does not owe me any money.
8 months ago the debtor sold me an office building. We have no personal connection other than that transaction. We have never met. He lives in Texas, and I live in California. The building is in Texas.
Do you know why I received the Notice. Is there any reason I should pay attention to it.

The debtor most likely listed you as a precautionary measure to prevent an future claims. Suppose as an example that tomorrow you discovered a hidden defect in the building that was not disclosed before your purchased it. The bankruptcy would discharge any claims that you might have. If you think you might have a claim, now is the time to investigate it.
