Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
Searching for relevant cases
I have been having trouble doing two things: one is searching for published, relevant cases involving Chaper 7 and student loans. Second is figuring out how to search for a particular defendant that appears in many cases. I also want to limit my search if possible to the 9th Circuit, but frequently published cases or key cases are of course good too. I have been trying Westlaw and it so far has reduced me to tears. Is there a better way for the pro se litigant to find this information?

Re: Searching for relevant cases
Westlaw is often difficult to use if you are not familiar with such research.
Just for your information, federal student loans are generally not dischargable in bankruptcy. However, under chapter 13, if you have made all your plan payments, there is what is termed a superdischarge.
The information provided to you is of a general nature. We hope this information has been helpful to you, but you should always obtain competent legal counsel who is familiar with your specific legal issues to determine the best course of action.
