When a person files for bankruptcy can they include a student loan?

Thanks for your posting. Yes, student loans can be included in a bankruptcy and should be listed if you are filing as part of your total debts. However, most student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy, with a few exceptions. In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, student loans are allowed along with other categories of debt. Best of luck.
