Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Being sued by credit card co

Hi there, I recently received a notice stating that I am being sued by my credit card company for the sum of $9k. I recently went through a foreclosure on my condo, and am mentally preparing for the possibility of declaring bankruptcy around tax time. (When I'm taxed on what the condo sold for). My question is this: What happens if I get on a payment plan with this credit card company and then have to declare bankruptcy? I want to make sure there are no reprocussions and that I'm not doing anything illegal.

Thank you

Re: Being sued by credit card co

Your financial circumstances can change on a weekly or even a daily basis. A payment plan that looks workable today might not look so good a month from now. Unless you have fraudulent intent (i.e. using the extra time to hide assets), a voluntary repayment plan will almost always be discharged in a chapter 7.
