A good number of people who have filed bankruptcy have judgments against them -- often as a result of a motor vehicle accident or lawsuits for unpaid credit card bills. In most cases, these debts are discharged. A person is limited to filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy at least eight years from the date the last discharged case was filed. A few of my clients contact me, send me some information, and then disappear, only to resurface a year or two later. Of course, it's up to the individual to decide whether and when to proceed.
