Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
if i got a traffic ticket and they sent my debt to a collection agency and i filed bankruptcy do i still have to pay?

Bankruptcy code 11 U.S.C. Sec. 523. Exceptions to discharge says "(a) A discharge under section 727, 1141, 1228(a), 1228(b), or 1328(b) of this title does not discharge an individual debtor from any debt � (7) to the extent such debt is for a fine, penalty, or forfeiture payable to and for the benefit of a governmental unit. The debt is non-dischargeable. You will have to pay this or the state may not renew your license.
