Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Is UEF collections dissmissable in bankruptcy court

I claimed bankruptcy 1997 and included UEF. No one from UEF showed up in court. My bankruptcy finailized in 1998. Prior to the bankruptcy UEF put a lien on our home. Today 8/4/01 they send me a letter saying that I must pay or I will be taken to court. Can UEF still collect money from me even if they put a lien on my home. Didnt they have their day in court when I filed bankruptcy and they chose not to show up in court.

I have no idea what "UEF" stands for, but if they had a pre-petition lien against your property and you did not avoid the lien through your bankruptcy, then they still have a valid lien against your property. They cannot take collection actions against you, but they are entitled to be paid upon sale of the property.
