Wage Garnishment

I need to know if there is a way to limit the amount collected or completely stop a wage garnishment.The opposing side has been unreasonable from the beggining.I would prefer not to file a bankruptcy.

A judgment creditor can collect up to 25% of your monthly take home pay, unless you claimed exemptions and at a hearing a judge was persuaded that your exemptions were valid. A judgment creditor is not "unreasonable" if he wants all his money, as he or she is usually holding all the cards. Also, many judgment creditors would just as soon have you file BK so they can write off the loss. The bottom line is that you should pay your debts.
