Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California
My wife and I are considering Bankruptcy. Our question is that she is listed as a joint home owner with her mother and brother on a home they inherited when her grandmother passed away. We do not live in the house and wonder how this would affect our possible filing.

Your wife's interest in the house is an asset that would need to be listed as an asset, but it is difficult to comment further without knowing the value of the house and the amount if equity it has. It should be possible to protect some of the equity in the house, but I would need to know more details about your entire situation. Feel free to call me office for a free consultation if you want to discuss this matter in more detail.
It would be difficult to answer without more information. Contact me directly.
