Legal Question in Business Law in California
accepting donated time and/or equipment
My fiancee and I are getting into music videos, independent film, directing, and videography. We are curious about the rules about accepting donated/volunteered time and/or equipment/supplies from friends and aquaintences. The persons in question would understand that compensation for their contribution would be screen credit, not money. We've encountered rumors that such arrangements would be illegal as they would count as business transactions or employer/employee relationships. Is this true? What is the actual law for such situations?

Re: accepting donated time and/or equipment
I dont see any problem in anyone providing goods or services in exchange for screen credit. That is done all the time. just make sure it is clear to everyone exactly what the arrangement is so they dont come back to you later with their hands out.
