Legal Question in Business Law in California
We are allowed to book 4 weeks of vacation a year. Policy has been written that 2 weeks are allowed in the summer, major holidays (thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years) can be booked every other year. (Example, if someone takes Christmas in 2023, they can't book another holiday until 2025. ) Spring break has just been included into the every other year booking policy. We are not allowed to pre-book single vacation days.
Assuming holiday and spring break are on differing years, one can only book 3 out of the 4 weeks every year (2 weeks in the summer and either a holiday or spring break). The 4th week, a parent is forced to book vacation during school thereby removing children from school or not actually taking vacation. Is this legal? Is this decimation against parents? Some parents have children with learning disabilities, so removing them from school is not an option.

It is impossible to really understand your vacation policy without reviewing the employee handbook or wherever the policy is written up. You need to show it to a local lawyer for an opinion.
