Can a uniform company legally renew a contract if you do not give written cancellation notice prior to contract expiration date?

Yes, if the contract says it will be automatically renewed unless canceled ahead of time. If you did not cancel as provided by the contract (and if the company has performed as the contract requires), the renewal was proper.

If the contract did not provide for an automatic renewal then the company cannot unilaterally renew it now. This rarely happens, though, and chances are that your contract does include an automatic renewal provision.
