Legal Question in Business Law in California

i bought a used car three months ago. the dealer talked me into writing 30 post dated checks for the payments. i have had it back to him two or three times a week since the first day with engine problems. i just closed that checking account on the recommendation of my bank. told him im not paying for the car. now im worried. what should i do?
