Legal Question in Business Law in California
Bounced Checks
Well I cashed a check on 4/06/09 for 535.47 at Ace Check Cashing in Fresno, from my place of work. Now it comes back that the check bounced and I owe them 570.47. I called the case manager and he told me that he's been trying to contact my boss but he was not returning phone calls or messages. He also told me that if I didnt get the money to him he would be drawing up a lawsuit against me, my boss, and four other people from my work who cashed their checks. My question is: Is it my responsiblity because my boss can't pay them?

Re: Bounced Checks
Yes, it's your obligation to Ace. But if you're sued, you can cross-complain against your boss. You might consider finding other work if your boss is going to bounce checks and be irresponsible.
