Legal Question in Business Law in California

Business Ethics

My store manager hired her significant other and they work in the same store, and she is above her. She reports directly to her as well. I read our handbook and it sayd that it isn't allowed. What Should I do? My district manager already knows about it as well.

Re: Business Ethics

I suggest you do nothing and not worry about it. It is not your business and you should not say anything unless it is really affecting you in some way. It is not affecting you in any way that I can tell. If you are worried about favoritism then work harder and smarter and move up the corporate ladder. Show your employer that you are better than the significant other. I definitely would not make too many waves if I was you if you value your job. If you do not value your job and this is bothering you then look for another job.

You should be more worried about yourself than the fact that this happened.

Re: Business Ethics

Violating the company's rules is not the same thing as violating the law, so lawyers can't offer you much guidance. Besides, nothing you have written suggests that you are any worse off because of this hire. You ask what you should do, but I'm not sure why you feel you should do anything.

Unless the relationship between the manager and her partner is in some way negatively affecting your job, I wouldn't recommend making waves.
