We are a Michigan LLC with a DBA in Los Angeles California. I have found out that we owe a $800 a year LLC tax for california. But what other taxes is my business going to be hit by? City of LA, California and Michigan?

Re: Help New Business with Tax questions

Can't speak for Michigan. The annual franchise tax on LLCs doing business in California is $800 plus a percentage of gross income over a certain amount. You need California Franchise Tax Board Publication 568, and here is a link:

www.ftb.ca.gov/forms/02_forms/02_568bk.pdf

This will probably give you the 2002 version, but you can probably get more recent versions by substituting the desired year for 02 in the link.

As for Los Angeles, try:

www.lacity.org/finance/

These two links should lead you to the information you need.
