Are more businesses getting away from using cash, which do they prefer cash, check, or credit/debit?

Most businesses (but I cannot speak for all) prefer cash first and foremost because there are no collection issues with cash and they do not have to pay a fee to accept cash. Checks are problematic because they bounce sometimes. Credit cards don't bounce as often but they are expensive to accept because the merchant has to pay expensive monthly and per transaction fees to accept credit cards.
