Legal Question in Business Law in California

If someone buys me a piece of machinery when I tell them I cannot afford it (Dec 2013), and they say just pay me when you can, do I have to pay them for it? He gave me a cc statement with other things on it, when interest began 6 months later. I made 4 interest payments, even though he broke the machine and it sat idle until I paid $ 500 to fix it 5 months later. We had a fight over something else, and I do not want, or need, the $9500 machine. I'm moving in 2 weeks. Can I give him a written demand that he has to get it out of my business in a certain length of time?

Sure, you can give him a written demand......but then what will happen? It's perhaps worth a try, but this case may be headed for Small Claims Court. I can't predict the result, partly because I haven't heard the other guy's side of the story, and partly because small-claims outcomes are sometimes unpredictable and may depend on who's the judge today and how good a story did each litigant have to tell.
