Legal Question in Business Law in California

Have California court forms changed recently?

I'm looking on the CA website for Tort-Complaint forms. I was told the form I need is 982.1(1). However, this form in nowhere to be found on the website. Has this form changed to another name/number?

Go to http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/forms/, click on the drop-down box and select "Pleading - Personal Injuy, Property Damage, Wrongful Death." All of the Judicial Council Complaint forms specifically relating to causes of action sounding in tort are listed there.

The fact that you are having problems even finding the correct form suggests that you lack the knowledge and skills necessary to prevail in a lawsuit without the assistance of an attorney.

Re: Have California court forms changed recently?

The 982 numbered series are motly if not entirely renumbered, or maybe one should say relettered. They are in the PLD-PI series, which I guess means Pleading-Personal Injury, but the forms in that series go well beyond personal injury alone, and include negligence, intentional tort, automobile, etc.

Along with the relettering, changes were made and new forms developed that may make unreliable any "do it yourself" info you're getting from an old self-help law book. Better get a new set of instructions, or even better, a lawyer.
